Welcome to BioConnects

BioConnects, a non-profit organization, is dedicated to fostering a passion for biology among students in grades 5th-12th. Our mission is to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in biology-related fields. We achieve this objective by developing and executing a range of engaging projects that provide students with hands-on experiences in various aspects of biology. Through these initiatives, we aim to ignite curiosity, nurture scientific skills, and pave the way for a future generation of dedicated biologists.

What are we trying to solve?

“So there are doctors….what else?”

There are many areas of Biology that are normally unexplored by students and that have different experiences. Subjects offered at school are in limited aspects of the science of biology and many students are unaware of the different streams in which a career in biology can be explored. Our goal is to provide resources for k-12 students to explore the variety of careers in the biological field.

Who are we?

BioConnects is currently entirely student led. We are high school students  between the grades 9th-12th grade passionate about fields in molecular biology. We want to empower students into learning more about Biology-related careers in fun and innovative ways.

Our Leadership Team members are interview-approved students who are trained by our team leads and curriculum to become “experts” in 6 chosen fields: Anatomy, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, Cancer Cell Research, Genetics, and Epidemiology.

Our Goal

We wish to spread awareness and provide experience in the various biology related science topics. We also plan to connect students to the necessary resources that will help them with a deeper understanding of the various aspects of the subject through various planned activities and quizzes.

Programs and Events

W

We host free middle-school-specific BioConnects BioNights. These BioNights have five free sessions: 3 learning sessions, one review session, and 1 BioNight (or fifth session). The fifth session (also called the BioNight) is a final game night filled with fun activities and prizes. While the first four sessions (3 learning sessions and one review session) are virtual the fifth session may be virtual or in-person.

We hosting a conference where each team is presenting on new information followed with recorded interviews from biological professionals. Keep on the look out for more information!

Want to be a Leadership member?

We have many opportunities to grow! Start with becoming a member and grow to a core officer. We have positions switching 2-3 times a year. Starting as a leadership member,  you would have one hour of extra work besides our weekly meetings on Sunday.

As a member, you would be trained by our leadership team in a specific field (Anatomy, Bioengineering, Neuroscience, Cancer Cell Research, Genetics, and Epidemiology). You would also gain opportunities to host  future activities and gain public speaking and leadership skills!

Want to be a Chapter President?

A BioConnects chapter president and their team would work together in learning new
material, making presentations, and advertising for hosting BioNights in there area!

Training happens every summer

All this with the guidance and
help of the core leadership
officer team!
